Bears

We had a snowy Monday back in Room 203. We began the day by collecting Friday Folders and taking care of our morning activities, which included sorting lunches, the Pledge and BeyeLaws, updating our calendar, the alphabet song, the vowel song, our phonetic alphabet, and morning exercises. We also read "Corduroy Lost and Found" and had HWT. After Road to Reading, we read a book about grizzly bears and made a movable bear. We decorated the face, body, arms, and legs of the bear before cutting them out, hole punching them and then attaching them with brass fasteners. They look cool!  After snack and recess, we went to Art. Ms. Sundquist had the class continue glazing their clay pots. Students also started making a stand for the pot to sit on. They will finish both next week.

At lunch, the class started PACK Week. Students will learn about nutrition and get to try a different colored food each day. Today's color was purple, so student's got to try plum flavored water. It was good!  After lunch, we learned our new sight words for the week and had some phonics skills practice. We also shared Charlotte's leprechaun trap project. She did a great job!  Remember to put things that a leprechaun might like. Projects are due Friday, but you may turn them in early. At Music, we started learning the songs for the Three Piggy Opera. We will be performing on May 24th. Mark it on your calendar!  For math, we focused on telling stories to solve problems and number bonds. At Star  of the Week, we introduced Gavin. He shared his awesome poster and took questions from the class. We ended the day in the Computer Lab. We played some games at LexiaCore5. Then we packed up, passed out homework packets, and lined up for home.

Be sure to look over homework for the week. The Leprechaun Trap project and the March Minutes Reading challenge are the priority. I've included sight words and math to keep us on schedule, so please try to complete them by Friday. Thanks! Let's have a great week!
