Sewing a Bear

We had a busy Thursday in Room 203. We began our day with our morning activities. We read "Moonbear's Dream" and decorated a cover for our Writer's Workshop stories. We went to the Computer Lab to work on LexiaCore5 games. When we got back, we shared our narrative stories during Writer's Workshop. They're great!  After snack and recess, we read "Corduroy" and had ELA Workshop. Students independently worked on sewing a bear before adding eyes, a muzzle, overalls, and buttons to make it look like Corduroy. My groups wrote a friendly letter to Gabriel, our Star of the Week. We also visited a secret center.

After lunch, we reviewed sight words, recited "Little Boy Blue," and finished up some of the unfinished bears from the morning. In Music we learned part of an Irish dance with Mrs. Hansen. For math we worked on making number bonds. In Spanish we learned more about Puerto Rico and are starting to learn about the rain forest with Sra. Colmenero. To end the day we had Star of the Week and shared our last narrative stories. Then we packed up, reviewed homework, read "Bear's Bargain," and lined up for home.

Be sure to finish and check over homework packets for Friday!  Include any book orders, field trip slips, and field trip money for tomorrow, too.
