Plant Needs

We had a good Thursday in Room 203. We began the day with our morning activities and HWT. Next, we went to the Computer Lab to play LexiaCore5 learning games. When we got back to the room, we had Writer's Workshop. We talked about the similarities and differences between How-To and Narrative writing.  Then we continued work on our How-To books. After snack and recess, we had ELA Workshop. Students independently identified the things that plants need to survive: water, sun, air, and soil. My groups wrote a friendly letter to George, our Star of the Week. We also visited a secret center.

After lunch, we reviewed sight words, recited "There Was a Crooked Man," and practiced some phonics skills. At Music, we had a substitute for Mrs. Hansen. The class voted on their favorite march, learned a dance, and played some musical Bingo. In Math, we continued our study of number bonds. In Spanish, we finished up our "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" booklets. To end the day, we had Star of the Week. George shared some nice family pictures with the class. Then we packed up, reviewed homework, talked about Friday's field trip, and lined up for home.

Be sure to finish and check over homework packets for Friday. Also, be sure to bring a lunch with drink and wear good walking shoes for our field trip!
