More With Bears

We had a "beary" good day in Room 203. We began our day with our morning activities and our "Leprechaun, Leprechaun, What Do You See?" mini-book. We read "Bear Wants More," too. After Road to Reading, we read a short story on grizzly bears and tried to write what happened in the story using an illustration. After snack and recess, we read "Black Bear Cub" and had ELA Workshop. Students independently solved math problems that, when put together, helped form a bear. My groups wrote in their journals about bears. We are really getting good at writing, by the way! We also visited new secret centers. They include: Coloring and counting objects in a winter picture at the Art Center, playing LexiaCore5 games at the Computer Center, adding numbers to five at the math center, matching rhyming puzzle pieces at the Mystery Center, writing our own mini-book at the Reading & Writing Center, and building a structure out of wood at the Science Center.

After lunch, we read "Bear Snores On" and signed our name for our yearbook pages. We also celebrated our ten days of all-green behavior with a popcorn party. We munched on a cup of popcorn and watched "Corduroy." For Star of the Week, Gavin shared his favorite book "The Cat in the Hat." The class liked it a lot!  We ended the day with Second Step. Ms. J.C. and Mrs. Z led the class in a lesson on inviting others to play. We will follow up on this topic next week, too. Then we packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.
