Writing in Scrolls, Writing About Pumpkins

We had a busy Wednesday in Room 203. We began the day taking care of our morning activities. After HWT and Road to Reading, we had Writer's Workshop. Today we continued work on our scroll writing. Scrolls are when you attach you extra ideas and pages below to make a longer or "taller" piece of writing. Our class was excited to keep adding to our work, so we got some nice stories! After snack and recess, we read "I Like Pumpkins" and "F is for Flamingo" and had ELA Workshop. Students tried to find "F" pictures and words while I pulled groups to write in our kindergarten journals. We wrote sentences about pumpkins.

After lunch, we recited "Three Little Kittens, reviewed phonics, and had math. We practiced counting, sorting, and writing numbers to six. We also tried to scatter and count cubes, put them in a circle, arrange them in a horizontal line, and put them in an array. To end the day, we had Second Step with Ms. J.C. and Mrs. Z. We focused our lesson on empathy and more feelings. We looked at being surprised and interested, along with being scared or afraid. We thought of when we felt this way, practiced these faces, and tried to see how a friend's face would look if they felt surprised or scared. Then we packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.

Remember that tomorrow (Thursday) is our first day of P/T Conferences. We have an 11:00 A.M. dismissal time, so please make arrangements to pick up your child. Also, we will go to the Book Fair tomorrow morning in the Commons.
