Line Prints

We had a fun Friday in Room 203. We began the day by collecting homework and taking care of our morning activities. After HWT, we had Writer's Workshop. We worked on stretching our words like a rubber band to hear the sounds. Then we added words and sentences to our writing. We're really trying! We had time for a quick snack and recess before Spanish and P.E. When we got back to the room, we talked a little about Christopher Columbus and the holiday we celebrate on Monday. We learned the sight word "is" and added it to a mini-book on Columbus. We also shared Charlotte's "All About Me" book. Remember that projects are due on Wednesday!

After lunch, we recited "Hey, Diddle, Diddle" and had math. We focused on counting and writing 4 and 5. We made a class graph and worked on isolating the number 4. After recess, we had art. We talked more about lines and made a line print. We painted a rectangle on aluminum foil, drew a pattern of lines with our finger in the paint, and then pressed and held white paper on the paint. Then we peeled it back to reveal a print. They look pretty cool! We ended the day by packed up Friday Folders, watching a video on Fire Safety, and counting Super Star Sticks. Keep up the great work!  Let's have a fantastic three day weekend!

Be sure to finish "All About Me" books this weekend. Also, if you're interested, the Oak Park fire station on Euclid Avenue has an open house on Saturday from 1:00-4:00 P.M.
