A Fun Friday

We had a fun Friday in Room 203. We began the day by collecting homework and taking care of our morning activities. Instead of HWT, we completed more of our Fire Safety booklets. We found out not to open a door that is warm or hot and to stop, drop, and roll if we catch on fire. At Writer's Workshop, we asked and answered questions about our writing with a partner. That helped us add to our writing, or take away parts that may not belong. We are really doing a good job! Next we went to Spanish. Sra. Colmenero had us learn more about El Dla de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead. In P.E., we played a few games with Mr. Simatic, including Spy Tag and Guardian Ball.

After lunch, we recited "Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary" and had math. We counted to 7 using our fingers, cubes, and the rekenrek. We also used cubes and a ten frame to identify numbers to 7 and display the number 7 in a linear and scattered configuration. After an afternoon recess, we read "Woo! The Not-So-Scary Ghost" and made Halloween art using black paper and oil pastels. After cleaning and packing up, we had a little music time where we sang "Five Little Pumpkins," "Colors," and "The Freeze." To end the day, we sang "Happy Birthday" to Gavin and awarded prizes for earning twenty super star sticks. Keep up the good work!  Have a wonderful weekend!

Remember that our Halloween parade is on Monday at about 1:15 P.M. Our class party will follow in Room 203 at about 1:45 P.M. Parents are welcome to attend all activities. Students my bring costumes or get picked up at lunch (12:00 noon) to get changed. Please don't send your child in full costume in the morning.  Thanks!
