The Life Cycle of a Butterfly

We had a productive Tuesday in Room 2. We began the day with Nutrition outside and our morning business. We read "Flora Flamingo Learns to Fly" and came up with more "l blend" words. At language arts rotations, students worked on finding "gl" or "fl" words and writing sentences. My groups took the Topic 14 math test and did some Mother's Day writing. The other groups had their first secret center of this rotation. After recess, we reviewed our sight words, recited "It's Raining," and had math. We discussed above, below, and on and placed and found examples of each.

After recess, we learned our first song for the May 29 culmination. Then we continued work on our "life cycle of a butterfly" projects. We traced our words, colored in the pictures and background, glued on pasta pieces to represent each stage, and cut and placed leaves around the edges of the plate. They look great!  We also caught some students up on some missing projects during this time. For Star of the Week, we reviewed what we know about Abby. Then Abby shared some cool things. She had a rock collection, a han bok, a mouse in a matchbox, and some beautiful jewelry. After some P.E. on the kindergarten yard, we ended the day with our Reading Buddies from Room 19. Then we packed up, reviewed homework, listened to a story read by Katharine, and lined up for home!

Oh, and don't forget those library books for tomorrow!
