Butterflies

We had a pleasant Friday in Room 2. We began the day by collecting homework and having Nutrition outside. Then we read "The Life Cycle of a Butterfly." At language arts rotations, students colored, cut, and ordered the four stages in the life of a butterfly. My groups read "Sad Hen" and  worked on Mother's Day art projects. The other groups had their last secret center of this rotation. We actually stopped about halfway though to go to the Tech Lab. Mr, Scott gave us another make-up session since we've missed our last three weeks with testing. We worked on using the space bar and delete keys. When we got back to Room 2, we continued our rotation. After recess, we read all of the sight words we've had this year, recited "Hot Cross Buns," and finished our center rotations.

After lunch, we had Music.  Ms. Phiri reviewed some of our songs and taught the class a few new ones. Next week, she is inviting parents that would like to watch the class sing and perform at our regular time of 12:00-12:45 P.M. It will be held in Room 32, if you can join us. When we got back, we had math. We reviewed Topic 14 and introduced Topic 15 on Position and Location of Shapes.  For Star of the Week, Alexander had us estimate little toys. There were 41 little toys! The closest estimate was by Dylan, who guessed 40. After P.E.on the big yard, Stella shared her animal report & diorama project. It was on the polar bear. She did a great job!  Don't forget that projects are due on May 13th!  The we packed up, gave out prizes for twenty super star sticks, awarded certificates for an all-green week, and lined up for home. Have a great weekend!

Be sure to continue work on the animal report & diorama projects, which are due May 13th!  Also, if you didn't return permission slips, be sure to do so by next Friday. Thanks!
