What Plants Need

We had a busy Tuesday in Room 2. We began the day, as usual, with Nutrition and our morning activities. We read "Clifford Saves the Whales" and came up with some more "wh" words. At language arts rotations, students worked on "Wh" phonics and sentences. My groups read Sam and Mat book #7 and wrote about seeds in our kindergarten journals. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we practiced sight words, recited our poem "Oh Where, Oh Where, Has My Little Dog Gone?" and had math. Normally we would have Tech Lab, but the next four weeks will have testing on the computers in the lab, so we'll be changing our schedule to help out. In math, we made real graphs using counters and read them to find out which columns had more and fewer.

After lunch, we spent more time on our theme of plants. We read some short rhymes and discussed the needs of a plant. Then we made mini-books showing what plants need to survive. They're cute! For Star of the Week, A.J. shared some cool toys. He had an Avengers four square ball, a Dodgers bat and ball, and a bunch of Hot Wheels cars. After P.E. on the big yard, Chloe shared a silly book and Lila shared some pictures from her trip to Colorado. We ended the day with our Reading Buddies before packing up and lining up for home.

Don't forget those library books tomorrow!
