Ladybugs

We had a ladybug Wednesday in Room 2. We began the day with Nutrition and our morning activities. Then we read "The Life Cycle of a Ladybug" and learned some cool facts about ladybugs. At language arts rotations, students made a ladybug with six legs, antennae, and dots using colored paper, scissors, and glue. They look great! My groups took the Unit 8 reading assessment. The other groups had secret centers.  After recess, we continued the theme of ladybugs by finishing our ladybug pictures from yesterday. We had to draw a head, six legs, antennae, and dots on each ladybug. We also reviewed sight words and recited "Rock-A-Bye Baby."

After lunch, we had science. We read "Seeing" and reviewed the five senses and last week's experiment. Then we had a hearing experiment. We used special listening contraptions that covered our ears to test sounds. We noted when sounds got louder or softer. We also learned that sounds move in waves. After reading "Hearing" and completing a see/hear cut and paste, we had Star of the Week. Amelia shared her favorite Monster High book, "Frights, Camera, Action!" AT P.E., Coach Angel had the class play "Destruction." Then we went to the library. Mrs. Singh read us "Charlie and Lola: We are Extremely Good Recyclers" in honor of Earth Day. We also checked out a new book for the week.  Be sure to bring them back next Wednesday! To end the day, we packed up, reviewed homework, read "I Love the Earth," and lined up for home.
