More With Wh, Music, and a Popcorn Party

We had a nice Friday in Room 2. We began the day by collecting homework folders and having Nutrition outside. Then we had our morning activities and finished reading "Clifford Saves the Whales." At language arts rotations, students worked on "Wh" phonics and sentences. My groups took the Math Topic 13 test and read "Sam and Mat" book #8. The other groups started our new secret centers. They include: Drawing insects with twist crayons at the Art Center, Planet Bravo and PBS Kids' Games at the Computer Center, hearing the story "Grow Flower, Grow! by Lisa Bruce at the Listening Center, Insect Addition at the Math Center, and using Legos, dinosaurs, blocks, and butterflies at the Play Center.  After recess, we practice all 100 of our sight words, recited "Oh Where, Oh Where, Has My Little Dog Gone?" and had math. We are starting a new chapter on shapes. We discussed what makes a rectangle and looked for and identified rectangles around the room.

After lunch, we had Music. Ms. Phiri led us in several songs, including "There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly." When we got back to the room, we had Star of the Week. A.J. brought in candies for us to estimate. There were 91 candies. Abby made the closest guess of 96. AT P.E., we had relay races in groups kicking a ball around cones. To end the day, we had a popcorn party. We earned it for good listening and behavior during the week. Then we packed up, gave out prizes for twenty super star sticks, and passed out certificates for an all-green week. Have a great weekend!

Don't forget to start work on those Animal Report and Diorama projects. I suggest finding a shoebox for the diorama and choosing an animal this weekend.
