Welcome Back!

We had a nice Tuesday back in Room 2 after Spring Break. We began the day by collecting Friday Folders and having Nutrition outside.  Then we had morning activities and read "The Carrot Seed."  At language arts rotations, students worked on "th" handwriting and used crayons, glue, and thread to make the tactile page "Thread on 'Th' on a Thumb." My groups took the Topic 12 math test before reading and writing about what happened in "The Carrot Seed." The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we went to the Tech Lab. Mr. Scott had the class word on sounding out consonant-vowel-consonant (CVC) words using the keyboard. When we got back the the room, we practiced our new sight words, learned our new nursery rhyme "Bedtime," read "Seeds, Seeds, Seeds!" and used oral blending to sound out words.

After lunch, we had math. We started Topic 13 by looking at same and different. We sorted attribute blocks by color and shape with a partner before finding like objects.  After some choose time, we had Star of the Week. We introduced Ashley as our Star of the Week, shared her awesome poster, and took questions from the class.  For P.E., we worked on bouncing a ball around cones on the big yard in groups. To end the day, we had reading buddies with Mr. Bassett's class. Then we put up chairs, passed out homework, sang "Happy Birthday" to Hudson (his birthday was over Spring Break), and lined up for home. Let's have a great week!

Be sure to check you child's homework packet for the week.  Book orders are included. Please return them (or order online) by Friday, if you're interested.
