More With Th and The Carrot Seed

We had a fast Friday in Room 2. We began our day by collecting homework and having Nutrition outside. Next, we took care of our morning activities and read the book "One of a Kind." At language arts rotations, students worked on "Th" phonics and sentences. My groups read "Dad Can Put a Pin On It" and made carrot art inspired by "The Carrot Seed." We sewed a carrot shape, added a stem, and glued on our writing from earlier in the week. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we practiced sight words, recited "Bedtime," and had math. We worked on more sorting objects using two attributes, such as shape, color, or size.

After lunch, we had music. Ms. Phiri had us sing songs about elephants, dinosaurs, and feet! We even used egg shakers to make music!  When we got back to Room 2, we had Star of the Week. Ashley had us estimate gummy hot dogs. There were 27 gummy hot dogs! Stella made the best guess of 30. For P.E., we had some bouncing ball relay races on the big yard. To end the day, we read "From Acorn to Tree" had a tree dot to dot partner project. Then we packed up our things, got Friday Folders with our work from the week, gave out prizes for earning 20 Super Star Sticks, and passed out certificates for an all-green week before lining up for home.  Have a great weekend!
