The Carrot Seed

We had another full day in Room 2. We began the day, as usual, with Nutrition outside. Then we had our morning activities.  Next, Ashley read her favorite book, "Is That My Cat?" to the class. At language arts rotations, students wrote a friendly letter to Ashley, our Star of the Week. My groups read "Dad Can Pin It On" and made carrot art inspired by "The Carrot Seed." We sewed a carrot shape, added a stem, and attached our writing from earlier in the week. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we reviewed sight words, recited "Bedtime," and had math. We worked on sorting the same set of objects in different ways.

After lunch, we had art. We continued our study of color by examining bright and dull colors. Students worked on drawing a jungle or forest picture that had glimpses of bright color amongst the green and brown. For Star of the Week, Ashley brought in a real cool picture board! It had a lot of really nice family photographs. At P.E., we had ball bouncing relay races in groups. To end the day, we used watercolors to finish our art. The class did a nice job of mixing colors to create the greens need for the picture. Then we packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home!

Don't forget to finish up and check over homework packets for tomorrow! Plus, return any book orders, permission slips, or field trip money if you haven't already.
