The Letter N

We had a busy Monday in Room 2. We began the day by collecting Friday Folders and having Nutrition. After our morning activities, we read "My 'N' Book" and brainstormed some words that begin with "N." At language arts rotations, students practiced neat "N"s and used wide and thin noodles, glue, and crayons to make that tactile page "Noodles on 'N's on a Nut." My groups took the Topic 6 math test and wrote about things we are thankful for at Thanksgiving. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we learned our new poem "Little Nut Tree," did some rhyming, and had math. We worked on addition by telling stories with joining in them.

After lunch, we read two books: one on trucks and one on trains. Then we discussed transportation, gave examples, looked at some pictures of transportation, recited some transportation poems, and talked about why transportation is helpful. Then we wrote a sentence about transportation and made a picture to go with it. For Star of the Week, we introduced Lila. She shared her poster and took questions and comments from the class. At P.E., we got to play with jump ropes and bouncy balls. To end the day, we had art with Ms. Maria and Miss Karla. We made sepia-tinted self portraits. They look cool!  The we played a quick game of "Mr. Ricker Says" and passed out homework packets. Let's have a great week!

Be sure to look over homework for the week. Four book orders and a Scholastic coupon go home (both the November and December SeeSaw and FireFly forms). If you're interested, order online or return forms with payment by Friday. Thanks! Also, take note that the optional PTA Reflections contest submissions are due by Thursday. Finally, remember that we do not have school all next week for the Thanksgiving holiday.
