Leaves

We had a leafy Wednesday in Room 2. We began our day with Nutrition and morning activities. Then we read "The Biggest Leaf Pile." At language arts rotations, students made leaf tracings using colored chalk. They came out nice!  My groups worked on writing a narrative story. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we recited "Mary Had a Little Lamb" and had math. We worked on numbers to 100 using a hundred chart to find patterns.

After lunch, we read "Leaves" and had science. We learned the difference between a simple and compound leaf. We looked at leaves with magnifying glasses to find the stem, midrib, vein, and blade. Then we matched leaves to the trees they came from. We had a quick snack/recess, before going to P.E. Coach Angel showed us how to play croquet. We learned how to correctly use a wooden mallet to hit the croquet ball through the wicket. To end the day, we went to the library. Mrs. Singh read us "The Zookeeper's Sleepers" and "Glasses for D.W." When we got back to the room, we packed up, reviewed homework, and passed out our photographs from Picture Day. I hope they made it home safely!
