Leaf Rubbings

We had a fun Friday in Room 2. We began the day by collecting homework and having Nutrition. After taking care of our morning activities, we read two short books on leaves. At language arts rotations, students made leaf rubbings. We put the leaf shiny side down and rubbed over the paper with a crayon. When done correctly, you see the leaf's blade, stem, midrib, and veins. They look cool!  My groups read "I Am a Doctor" and wrote a friendly letter to Nathan, our Star of the Week. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we recited "Mary Had a Little Lamb," did some rhyming, and had math. Today we made a dot to dot picture by counting to 50.

After lunch,  we read "Fall Changes" and discussed things that take place in Fall. Then we did the first part of a two-part art project. We made a turkey with feathers to represent Thanksgiving. For Star of the Week, Nathan had us estimate popcorn. There we 99 pieces of popcorn. Abby guessed it exactly! We had P.E. on the kindergarten with bouncy balls and jump ropes next. Then we finished our art project by turning over our turkey and using the feathers to make a Native American boy or girl. They look cute! We will learn more about different tribes and Native American culture in the next two weeks. Then we cleaned up, packed up our Friday Folders, and passed out certificates for an all green week. Enjoy your weekend!

Remember that next week is Parent/Teacher Conference week. Reminder slips went home on Monday. If you forgot your time, contact me ASAP.  Each day will also be a 12:35 P.M. dismissal day. And there is no school on Tuesday, November 11th because of Veterans' Day.
