More With L and Tech Lab

We had another fast Tuesday in Room 2. We began our day with Nutrition and morning activities. We read "The Lamb Who Loved to Laugh" and came up with more "L" words. At language arts rotations, students worked on "L" phonics. My groups took the Topic 5 math test and wrote in our kindergarten journals about friends. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we had Tech Lab. Mr. Scott had us focus on syllables in words today. All three of our games had students listen to a words and count the sounds within. They were: Counting Syllables, Counting More Syllables, and Segmenting Words by Syllable.  When we got back to Room 2, we recited "Mary Had a Little Lamb" and worked more with syllables. We also sounded out some words and reviewed our sight words of the week.

At lunch, we celebrated Boyd's birthday. It was over a week ago, but he had been out sick last week, so we celebrated today. His mom brought yogurt, cupcakes, drinks, and more! After lunch, we read "Fall, Leaves, Fall" and had math. We worked on estimating how many. For Star of the Week, Nathan shared some special toys: Christmas Bear, Bunny, and Chef Bear. The class liked them all!  To end the day, we had Reading Buddies with Room 19. Mr. Bassett's fourth and fifth graders read to us outside. Then we put up our chairs, packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.

Don't forget to bring leaves this week!
