Buffalo Hides

We had another quick day Friday in Room 2. We began our Friday by collecting homework and having Nutrition. After our morning activities, we read "The First Thanksgiving." At language arts rotations, students decorated a paper "buffalo hide" using oil pastels. We looked at Native American symbols to help our drawings. My groups wrote a letter to Dashiell, our Star of the Week. The other groups started new secret centers. They include: decorating a Native American thunderbird with twisty crayons at the art center, playing games at Starfall.com and PlanetBravo.com at the computer center, listening to "When You Grow Up" by Lennie Goldings at the listening center, addition practice at the math center, and using cubes, dinosaurs, and gears at the play center. After recess, we recited "Little Miss Muffet" and had math. We reviewed Topic 6 and introduced Topic 7 on Exploring Addition.

After lunch, Chloe read us a book from home called "Biscuit." She did a great job!  For Star of the Week, Dashiell had us estimate pencils. There were 77 pencils. Ziggy got it exactly!  Then we packed up our Friday Folders and things for home. To end the day, we awarded prizes for earning 20 super star sticks. Then we passed out certificates for an all green week and lined up for home. Have a great weekend!

Don't forget that PTA Reflections submissions are due on Thursday, if you're interested. Also, be sure to start those Ethnicity Doll projects, which are due on December 9th.
