The "Sh" Digraph

We had a nice Monday back in in Room 2. We started by collecting Friday Folders and taking care of our morning business. We read a book on one of the five senses (seeing) since we didn't have time on Friday after our optical illusion experiment. Then we tried to come up with "sh" words because our digraph of the week is "sh." For language arts rotations, students did "sh" handwriting and the tactile page "Shells on sh on a Ship." My groups wrote in our journals about what we've learned in kindergarten. The other groups had secret centers. After snack and recess, we learned our new poem of the week "Come to the Window" and had math. We worked on sorting objects by two attributes. Students worked with their partner and our foam shapes to sort by color and shape or color and size or size and shape.

After lunch, we read "The Magic School Bus Weathers the Storm" and made a weather book. We also began a silhouette project during this time. Students colored and labeled types of weather pages and then stapled it together. Then we introduced Quinn as our Star of the Week. He showed the class his very cool poster and took questions. Next, we went out on the kindergarten yard for P.E. When we came in, we watched "The Magic School Bus Kicks Up a Storm" to finish the day. Then we packed up our things, passed out homework folders, and headed for home.

Let's have a great week!
