The "Ch" Digraph and Tech Lab

Our Tuesday went by pretty quickly in Room 2. We started with morning business and searched for some hidden "Zero Heroes." Then we read the story "Chimp and Chick's Lunch" and brainstormed a few more "ch" words. At language arts rotations, students worked on a "ch" phonics page and wrote sentences with "ch" words. My groups took the math Topic 12 test and wrote in our journals about our favorite subject in school. The other two groups started new secret centers. They are: Decorating an umbrella with markers in the art center, playing games at abcya.com at the computer center, categorizing objects in the math center, manipulating blocks and gears at the play center, and writing sentences in "My Weather Word Book" at the writing center. After snack (which included a Zero Hero treat) and recess, we had Tech Lab. Mr. Riko had student draw pictures using the tools at abcya.com. When we got back to class, we recited "Wee Willie Winkie" and did some rhyming.

After lunch, we practiced our sight words and had math. We started Topic 13 by sorting objects with like attributes. We used shapes to find similar attributes and then find the objects that go together or do not belong. For Star of the Week, Penelope shared a few nice toys. She had Princess Cadence from "My Little Pony," a soft purple tiger named Zoey, an Elsa doll, a mermaid, a seahorse,  and Twilight Sparkle from "My Little Pony." The class enjoyed them very much. Then we packed up and headed for home!
