Reading, Measuring, and Community Helpers

It was a fast Wednesday in Room 2. We started quickly with morning business before reading a book on teeth and "Y is for Yak." At language arts rotations, students worked on "Y" phonics and good sentences. My groups took the math Topic 11 test and read "Nat Has a Hat." The other two groups had secret centers. After snack and recess, we recited "Yankee Doodle" and had math. We worked on comparing lengths again, this time trying to put objects in order from shortest to longest.

After lunch, we practiced rhyming, sight words, and read "Tooth Trouble." Then we had language mixing with Mr.Duffy's class. My students read a book about going to the dentist, matched dental words to pictures, and made a head mirror. When we regrouped, we had Star of the Week. Luke shared his favorite book (Pororo) and Sofia the First: The Royal Games. For P.E., Coach Angel had the class play scooter relay. And to end the day, Mr. K read the class "The Letter" from his Frog and Toad collection. Then we packed up and headed for home!
