Measuring, Sno-Cones, and Volcanoes

A busy day again this Thursday in Room 2. We started with our morning business and then we read "Arthur Tricks the Tooth Fairy." At language arts rotations, we wrote letters to Luke, our Star of the Week. My table wrote in our journals about our favorite shape.  The other two groups had secret centers. After snack and recess, we recited "Yankee Doodle" and had math. We worked on longer and shorter again. Today we resorted objects to put them in order from shortest to longest. We also cut yarn and taped the pieces in order from shortest to longest. The class enjoyed the challenge!

After lunch, we did some rhyming, practiced sight words, and read a story. We had language mixing today with Mr. Duffy's class. My group wrapped up our unit on Neighborhood by reading about several community helpers and writing about ones we like best. Luke shared some very nice pictures for Star of the Week next. Before P.E. started, we got a little treat. Warner's mom and dad made us sno-cones over by the cafeteria! The class enjoyed them a lot! We finished the day with science. We read the book "What is a Volcano?" and then drew and labeled a picture of a volcano. They look neat!  Then we packed up and lined up for home.

Don't forget to finish and check over homework packets tonight!
