The Letter F

We continued our study of the letter F today in room 2. We put our "Feathers on Fs on a Football" on display to start the day. Then we read "Fifi Ferret's Flute" and brainstormed more "f" words. In our language arts rotations, students completed an "f" cut and paste phonics page. We also did more "f" handwriting in my groups and had secret centers for the other groups. We did a nice job writing extra words on the back of the handwriting page, too. After snack and recess, we went to the Tech Lab. Mr. Riko had students use shapes to create a picture of their own. They looked good!

After lunch, we practiced our super-long poem of the week "Three Little Kittens," as well as some rhyming and oral blending. We also reviewed our Treasures theme of "friends" by reading "Friends All Around" and discussing what makes a good friend. In math, we worked on reading and writing 10. To end the day, we went to room 19 (Mr. Bassett's fourth grade) for Reading Buddies. Then we packed up and went home. it was a quick and productive day!
