Fast Friday

We had a fast paced Friday in room 2 today. It was the twentieth day of school, so we started the day looking for "Zero Heroes" hidden around the room. We got all ten!  After reading a book about apples trees and apple picking, we broke into small groups for rotations. Students independently ordered how an apple tree grows from seed to tree in a cut and paste. I also challenged them to copy a sentence on the back of the paper from some that we brainstormed together. Students also had secret centers and worked with me on "The Little Red House."  At snack we got a (reduced fat) Ritz cracker as a "Zero Hero" treat before going to recess. We reviewed Topic 2 in math before introducing Topic 3: Six to Ten, and laying a game with a partner.

We got a call from the office that they would be doing vision tests on the students in the morning, so throughout the day we had students getting pulled out. After lunch, our art teacher, Ms. Maria, asked to pull kids for a picture project, too, so it got a little hectic. We had started our art project on Wednesday by making lines with glue on black construction paper. We finished the project today by filling in the spaces between those lines with oil pastels, creating lines to touch. They look nice!  After P.E. with hula hoops and bouncy balls, we came in and had a popcorn party. We watched "Harold in the Dark" and had a cup of well-earned popcorn. We packed up, passed out green certificates, and lined up for home.  Have a great weekend!
