Reading Buddies and Culture Dolls

We had a quick Tuesday in Room 203. We started our morning with Star of the Week. We reviewed what we know about Ben. Then ben shared some cool toys with the class. They included: a Lego house, a Cats CD, a snowy owl, an ogre toy, and an Etch-A-Sketch. When we were done, we worked on the letter "L." We read "The Lamb Who Loved to Laugh," brainstormed more "L" words, and practiced our "L" handwriting. Next we were visited by our reading buddies from fifth grade. We looked at books and read together for a bit. We had Reader's Workshop when we were done. After Road to Reading, we had snack and recess. When we came back in, we started a new narrative unit in Writer's Workshop. We thought about making good writing for readers before beginning a new story. We were careful to space our words and make sure it was easy to read. We hope to finish these stories later in the week.

After lunch, we recited "Mary Had a Little Lamb," reviewed our sight words, and read "Bee-Bim Bop." We also had math. We looked at objects and tried to sort them into groups of flat and solid shapes. It was a bit challenging, but we got it!  Next we got a chance to share a couple more Culture Dolls. Bennett and Wai Zin read and presented to the class. They did a great job!  Don't forget that projects are due next Wednesday. We ended the day with Music and Spanish. Then we packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.
