The Letter L

We had a good Monday in Room 203. We began the day by collecting Friday Folders and taking care of our morning activities, including sorting lunches, the Pledge and BeyeLaws, updating our calendar, singing our alphabet songs, morning exercises, and more. Instead of HWT we worked on our new letter of the week, "L." We used crayons, glue, and licorice to make the tactile page "Licorice on 'L's on a Lollipop." After Road to Reading, we worked on neatly forming "L"s and writing sentences with "L"s in them. We've got some great writers! After indoor snack and recess, we went to Art. Ms. Sundquist had the class make a picture in the style of Joan Miro.

After lunch, we recited our new poem "Mary Had a Little Lamb" and learned our new sight words for the week: a, can, boy, girl, read. They are included in this week's homework, so practice them at home! At Music, Mrs. Hansen had the class learn about Tchaikovsky and the Nutcracker. When we got back, we had math. We're starting Module Two on Shapes. After some fluency practice, we reviewed fifteen flat shapes and their characteristics. Then we use shape blocks to sort like shapes and create our own. We ended by looking for triangle shapes mixed in among others. It's Monday, so we went to the Computer Lab to work on LexiaCore5 skills next. To end the day, we had a fruit snack party to celebrate ten days of all green. We watched some videos on food and nutrition while we enjoyed a fruit snack treat. Then we packed up homework folders and bundled up for home. Let's have a great week!

Be sure to look over homework packets for the week. The new sight word activity sheet is included in Monday's homework. There is also a book order for December. Return them with payment by Friday if you're interested.
