Field Trip to Pete's Fresh Market

We had a fabulous Friday in Room 203. We began the day by collecting homework and taking care of our morning activities and HWT. Then we had our morning meeting to talk about our field trip! We got in groups and walked down to Pete's Fresh Market on Lake Street. We were led on a tour of the store to see different kinds of foods. We started in produce looking at fruits and vegetables. We got a taste sample of an apple, plus we got to pick one to take home! Then we headed to the deli where we got to try cheese and turkey. Next we got to see how they make freshly squeezed orange juice and got to taste a strawberry smoothie. Yum! we met some people in the Bakery and saw the bread, cakes, and cookies they make. And, yes, we got a sample there too!  In the Meat and Seafood area, we got to see some whole fish (including an octopus) that they sell. Wow!  We didn't try those, however. In the Dairy section, we looked at the milk, yogurt, and cheese and got a milk to drink. We ended the tour by the hot food section, which led to the sushi counter, and gelato station. There was a lot of neat foods to see and taste. We had a great trip!  Special thanks to Addison's dad, Elise's dad, Miles' mom, and Quinn's mom for being chaperones!

When we got back to Beye, we went straight to Spanish, Sra. Colmenero taught the class about numbers. In P.E., we played a lot of hockey games with Mr. Simatic, including Pirate Hockey and Triple Hockey. When we got back to the room, we talked about our favorite parts of our field trip and drew a picture that we will give to Pete's next week.

After lunch, we recited "Mary Had a Little Lamb," reviewed sight words, and had math. We went through our fifteen flat shapes, played a shape game, and then tried to put shapes where they belong using directional words. We had a nice afternoon recess before ending the day with art. We took our glued "lines to touch" that dried from yesterday and filled in the empty spaces with oil pastels. They look cool!  Then we cleaned up, packed up Friday Folders, awarded prizes for twenty super star sticks, and lined up for home. Have a great weekend!

Be sure to look in the Friday Folder for first trimester report cards. Sign and return the envelope for next week. Thanks!
