The Gingerbread Man

We had a good Wednesday in Room 203. We began the day with our morning activities, HWT, and Road to Reading. During Writer's Workshop, we tried to focus on sounding out middle vowels by practicing our vowel song and "Apples and Bananas." Then we continued our true stories from yesterday by adding words, sentences, and speech bubbles. After snack and indoor recess, we read "The Library Gingerbread Man" and had ELA Workshop. Independent groups worked on coloring and constructing a movable gingerbread man (or woman) using crayons, scissors, a hole puncher, and brass fasteners. I pulled groups to make dough for our own gingerbread man figure. We also visited another secret center.

After lunch, we finished up our gingerbread men and women before reviewing flat and solid shapes. We played a quick game, too, before ending the day with Second Step. Ms. J.C. and Mrs. Z led a lesson on feelings that our bodies feel. Then we packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.
