Secret Centers...and the BeyeLaws Belt!

We had a busy Tuesday in Room 203. We began the day with our morning activities, HWT, and Road to Reading. Then we took some time to talk about the new secret centers we will be exploring during ELA Workshop. We looked at all six and learned what each one will include for the next two weeks. The goal is to become more productive and independent during workshop time. After snack and recess, we read "The Lamb Who Loved to Laugh" and brainstormed more "L" words. During ELA Workshop, students found "L" words and wrote sentences at the Independent Work Tables, read "Am I?" and learned how to play dominoes at the teacher directed table, and found their first secret center. For this rotation, the centers include: Drawing and painting at the Art Center, LexiaCore5 games at the Computer Center, finding matching shapes at the Math Center, creating shape designs with tangrams at the Mystery Center, forming the numbers 0 to 4 at the Reading & Writing Center, and identifying trees with puzzles at the Science Center.

After lunch, we recited "Mary Had a Little Lamb" and identified our sight words of the week. Then came our specials! At the Library, we read a story and check out a book with Mr. Withers. At Spanish, we worked on arriba and abajo with Sra. Colmenero. At P.E., we payed hockey games with Mr. Simatic. To end the day, we had Reading Buddies with our fifth grade friends in Mrs. Fogg's class. Then we packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home!

Oh, something cool has happened this week: Our class won the BeyeLaw Championship belt for earning ten compliments last week! We've been proudly displaying it in class and carrying it around the school when we go to specials. I've included a picture so you can see it. It's heavy!  We may have to relinquish it soon as other classes meet their goals, but it's been a fun couple of days!
