Seeds and Flowers and Comics

We had a pretty good Monday in Room 2. We began the day by collecting Friday Folders, having Nutrition, and taking care of our morning activities. We also read "Flowers." At language arts rotations, students took the page that we glued seeds to last week and drew roots, stems, leaves, and flowers coming out of the seeds. We also decorated the background and painted the soil. They look great!  My groups wrote final drafts of our "What I Learned in Kindergarten" stories. The other groups had the last secret center of this rotation. After recess, we had math. We reviewed the start of the chapter before comparing objects by shape. We sorted some shapes and found others that belonged.

After lunch, we read "Fluffy's Lucky Day" and made St. Patrick's Day cartoons. Students came up with words to describe a six-panel comic of a leprechaun singing, seeing a four-leaf clover, picking it up, getting stung by a bee, and then throwing it away. They were quite funny!  For Star of the Week, we introduced Madison. She shared her cool poster and took questions from the class. After P.E. on the kindergarten yard, Ethan shared his Science Fair project. Anyone else wishing to share a project should bring it in by Thursday! We ended the day by coloring, cutting, and pasting the parts of a flower: roots, stem, leaf, petals, and pollen. Then we cleaned up, packed up, passed out homework folders, and lined up for home.  Let's have a great week!

Be sure to look at the homework folders. As promised, we do not have a homework packet, but the Ricker Report inside will remind you about Open House on Thursday and our 12:35 minimum day dismissal on Friday. Return (empty) homework folders on Friday. Thank you again for such fantastic support of the Walk-A-Thon!
