Seeds and Plants

We had another good day this Thursday in Room 2. We began with morning business and by reading "Grow, Tree, Grow."  At language arts rotations, students wrote letters to Samara, our Star of the Week. My groups read "The Carrot Seed" together and wrote what happened in the story. The other groups had secret centers. After snack and recess, we had math. We did some Easter egg addition problems.

After lunch, we read "The Easter Bunny is Missing!" and practiced our sight words. Then we had language mixing with Mr. Duffy's class. My group read "Seed Secrets," reviewed what we know about seeds, and discussed the parts of a plant, Then we cut and pasted parts to match on a plant. For Star of the Week, Samara shared some very nice family pictures. Then we went out for P.E. on the bug yard. When we got back, we had science. We talked about what plants need to survive and grow (water, sun, air, and soil). Then we made a mini-book that showed those plant needs. We also looked at our lima bean seed progress. I had those that didn't grow re-plant some seeds to try again. Then we packed up and lined up with our plants and seeds to take home!

Don't forget to finish and return homework packets for tomorrow. Also, remember that Friday is a 12:35 P.M. Minimum Day dismissal!
