Insects

We had a longer Tuesday than usual in Room 2. Our day began with morning business and by reading "A Groundhog Named Grady." At language arts rotations, students matched pictures with the correct "R Blend" and wrote sentences. My groups wrote in our kindergarten journals about our moms. The other groups had secret centers. After snack and recess, we went to the Tech Lab. Unfortunately, we found out that it will be closed for a few weeks for the upper grades to conduct testing. So we came back to the room and recited the poem "Hot Cross Buns" and had math. In math, we worked on identifying and placing shapes above, below, and on objects.

After lunch, we practiced our Mother's Day poem and made small groups. Then we read a book on ants before reviewing the parts of insect. For Star of the Week, Sua brought in some cool toys. She had My Little Pony toys, a viewfinder, some small treasures  in a bag, a killer whale, a bunny, and a turtle dream light. The class enjoyed them all. Our Reading Buddies canceled to practice their play, so we had P.E. on the big yard with jump ropes and balls next. To end the day, we started a ladybug picture that we will finish tomorrow at centers. Then we got our things and lined up for home at our new 2:30 dismissal time.
