Bright Colors

We had a very busy Friday in Room 2.  We began by collecting our homework and taking care of our morning business. Several students left with Mr. A to get their Spring pictures taken while the rest of us read "Jack and the Beanstalk." At language arts rotations, students put pictures from "Jack and the Beanstalk" in order and then wrote sentences about the story. My groups read "Are Caps Hats?" and wrote about plants in our journals. The other groups had secret centers. After snack and recess, we recited "Rock-a-bye Baby," did some rhyming, and had math. We looked for flat shapes on solid figures, such as two flat circles are on a cylinder or six flat squares are on a cube.

After lunch, we read "Curious George and the Roller Coaster" and practiced our sight words. Then we had art. We've been talking about colors for awhile. Today we focused on bright colors. Students drew a picture of a place with bright colors and then used tempera paint to color it in. It was a bit messy and took some time, but they turned out great! Next we had Star of the Week. Steve had the class estimate marbles. There were 100. The best guess was 99 by Aiden. We ended the day with a popcorn party. We earned it from our good behavior this week. We watched "The Magic School Bus: Gets Planted," which was about photosynthesis. Then we packed up our Friday Folders, passed out prizes for twenty super star sticks, and gave out certificates for an all-green week before lining up for home. Have an excellent weekend!
