Valentine Guy and Valentine Girl

We had a nice Friday in Room 203. We began the day by collecting homework folders and taking care of our morning activities. We read "Mouse's First Valentine" before finishing up our Valentine Guy and Valentine Girl artwork. They look cute! We didn't have Road to Reading today, so we wrote letters to Ascencion, our Star of the Week. After a quick snack, we went to Spanish and P.E. When we got back to the room, we had science. We read a story and reviewed what we know about leaves. We also looked at simple and compound leaves, matched leaves to the trees they belong to, and made a leaf rubbing. Cool!

After lunch, we reviewed sight words, recited "Little Bo-Peep," and had math. Today we focused on finding objects that weigh the same. That's hard to do, so we used our scales to balance two sides using pennies on one side. We did a nice job!  For Star of the Week, we read our letter to Ascencion. She also got to tell two funny jokes!  Since we didn't get a morning recess, we had an afternoon recess outside. Finally, we ended our day with art. We started a new unit on Shapes. We talked about geometric and free-form shapes. We made a picture using oil pastels with geometric shapes on the inside and free-form shapes on the outside. We also used watercolors to paint each part. They are very colorful!  Then we packed up Friday Folders, counted sticks, passed out prizes for twenty super star sticks, and lined up for home. Have a great weekend!

Oh, don't forget to finish up 100 Day Books for Tuesday!
