Groundhog Day!

We had a good Thursday in Room 203. We began the day with our morning activities. We also read "Groundhog Day" and talked about Groundhog Day. We learned that Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow, so we still have six more weeks of winter. Then we colored and make a Groundhog's Day picture. The Computer Lab was open, so we went to play LexiaCore5 games next. After snack and recess, we read "The Snowy Day" and worked on connecting the illustrations to the story we read. During ELA Workshop, my groups looked at two pictures and described what was happening in the story at that point. We did a nice job! Independently, students made their own illustrations from the story and described it with a sentence. We also visited a secret center.

After lunch, we reviewed sight words, recited "Little-Bo-Peep," and practiced some phonics skills. At Music, we practiced the Kindergarten Polka with Mrs. Hansen. We got an extra recess next before reading "Groundhog's Special Secret." At Spanish we learned more about fruits with Sra. Colmenero. To end the day, we had Star of the Week. Ascencion shared some nice photographs with the class. Then we packed up, reviewed homework, counted super star sticks, and lined up for home.

Be sure to finish and check over homework packets for Friday. Parents, don't forget to finish your "homework," too!
