The Letter Q

We had a good Monday in Room 203. We began the day by collecting Friday Folders and taking care of our morning activities, which include the Pledge and BeyeLaws, calendar, alphabet, and morning exercises. Next we read "My "Q" Book" and brainstormed some "Q" words. We  also used crayons, glue, and Q-Tips to create the tactile page "Q-Tips on 'Q's on a Quilt." After Road to Reading, we worked on "Q" handwriting and sentences. Watch these at home, as "q"s can be tricky! After snack and recess, we had Art. Ms. Sundquist had the class use clay for the first time. They talked about things to make, what a kiln is, and then got to work with real clay.

After lunch, we learned our new sight words for the week, recited our new poem ("Jack Be Nimble'), and practiced some phonics skills. At Music, we played the mystery song game with Mrs. Hansen. When we returned to Room 203, we read "100 Day Worries," which was about a 100 Day project. We also shared George's and Elise's 100 Day Books. Don't forget that they are due tomorrow! For math, we tried writing the numbers from 1 to 100. It was a bit challenging for some students. Let's keep at it! For Star of the Week, we introduced Billie. She shared her cool poster and took questions from the class. To end the day, we went to the Computer Lab. We played games at LexiaCore5. Don't forget that you can play them at home, too! Then we packed up, reviewed homework for the week, and lined up for home.

Be sure to check over homework packets. In addition to the 100 Day Books being due tomorrow, our Tuesday homework has changed a little. It now includes writing sentences with two of the six words you brainstorm. See me if you have any questions. Also, I've included a book order for February. Return them by Friday with payment if you're interested.  Let's have a great week!
