Sewing Bears

We had a good Wednesday in Room 2. We began the day with Nutrition and our morning business. Then we read "When Tillie Turtle Came to Tea" and came up with more "t" words. At language arts rotations, students worked on "T" phonics and sentences. My groups read "Sit Tip!" and finished writing in our "Bears, Bears, Everywhere" mini-books. The other groups had their last secret center of this rotation. After recess, we had math. We worked on problem solving with a partner. We counted objects to make a table.

After lunch, we reviewed sight words, recited "Polly Put the Kettle On," and read "Bears!" We listed what we know about bears. Next, we sewed around a bear shape and decorated it with crayons, wiggly eyes, and buttons. They look cute!  For Star of the Week, Jayden shared his favorite dinosaur books. They were great!  At P.E., Coach Angel had the class work on their tennis skills by serving underhand with a ball and racket. They used a beach ball and a dodgeball to practice. Mrs. Singh wasn't at school today, so we ended the day by talking about Black History Month. We will learn about several important African-Americans during February. Today we read and colored in a picture of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Then we packed up, put our chairs up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.
