Music and a Theater Performance

We had a pretty good Thursday in Room 2. We began with Nutrition, our morning activities, and the book "A Snowy Day." As a whole group, we wrote a friendly letter to Karma, our Star of the Week. Next we had Music with Mr. B. He had the class sing, jump around, and play some instruments. After recess, we had math. We worked with a partner to identify longer and shorter objects. Then we estimated their length before measuring with cubes.

After recess, we reviewed sight words, recited "Humpty Dumpty," and sang "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes." We learned a little about Dr. Mae Jemison, the first African American women in space. We also colored in a picture of her. Ms. Nichols picked up the class for some Theater time before our performance. Then, at the 1:15 P.M. show, we recited a Langston Hughes poem and sang "This Little Light of Mine." Ms. Nichols has agreed to set a day after Open House for parents to attend to see your children perform these songs and more. I will let you know the day and time as soon as I can.  When we got back to Room 2, we had Star of the Week. Karma shared some nice family pictures. We ended the day with some P.E. on the kindergarten yard. Then we packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.

Don't forget to finish and check over homework packets for tomorrow!
