Heart Graphs and Patterns

We had a nice Friday in Room 2. We began the day by collecting homework and having Nutrition. Then we read "Lucky Duck" and reviewed the "short u" sound. At language arts rotations, students worked on matching "short u" words to pictures and writing sentences. My groups took the chapter 7 math test and read "Sam and Mat" book #3.  We're doing a great job!  The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we had math. We made a Valentine heart graph.  We opened our own Valentine heart candies, sorted them by color, counted them, and then made a graph representing those numbers. Then we got to eat the candy hearts!

After lunch, we reviewed sight words, recited "Little Boy Blue," and read "Valentine's Day." Then we looked at heart patterns and identified the pattern: AB, AAB, ABB, or ABC. We also pasted a picture of what would come next. We also packed up Valentine gifts. Hopefully they made it home safely!  For Star of the Week, Kaia had the class estimate marshmallows. The class made guesses between 23 and 99. There were 71 marshmallows. The best guess was 70 by Mr. Ricker!  We had P.E. on the big yard next. We ended the day watching a movie about migration. Then we packed up, awarded prizes for twenty super star sticks, and gave out certificates for an all-green week.  Have a great weekend!

Remember that we do not have school on Monday because of the Presidents' Day holiday. Enjoy the three day weekend!
