Corduroy, Theater, Primary Colors, and Class T-shirts

We had pretty interesting Thursday in Room 2. We began the day with a quick Nutrition and an abbreviated version of our morning activities. Then we read Jayden's dinosaur book before we wrote a friendly letter to him because he is our Star of the Week. We've been working on adding the word 'because' to our writing to make it even better!  Next we went to Music, but had to turn around when we found out that Mr. B was out sick today. So, instead we read  the book "Corduroy" and sequenced the story. After recess, we had math. We did a progress check before working on making numbers 16 to 19.

After lunch, we watched a movie version of "Corduroy" as a treat for missing Music. For Star of the Week, Jayden shared some nice family photographs. Next, we went to the auditorium to have Theater for the first time. We met our teacher, Ms. Nichols, and practiced, a song, a poem, and performing on stage. Our class will be one of the K classes performing at the Black History Month assembly later in February. When we got back, we quickly reviewed sight words and recited "Polly Put the Kettle On" before going out to P.E. on the big yard.  When we returned, we had art. We couldn't do the lesson I had planned given the time, so we continued our unit on color by looking at the primary colors. We cut out primary colored shapes, then overlapped them on paper. In the overlapped portion, we used a secondary color to show how they would mix. They look cool!  Then we packed up, reviewed homework, and passed out our field trip t-shirts. They are light blue and have a space on the sleeve to write your child's name. Please have your child wear the shirt on our field trips.

Be sure to finish and check over homework packets for tomorrow!
