More With W

We had a fast Tuesday in Room 2. We began the day with Nutrition and our morning activities. During this time, Charis (along with Timothy from Room 10) represented kindergarten and read about George Washington Carver for African American Heritage Month. They did a great job!  We read "A Sunny Day" and "W is for Woodpecker" and came up with more "w" words. At language arts rotations, students worked on "W" phonics and sentences. My groups read "Nat" and tried to write a weather poem. It was a bit of a challenge! The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we went to the Tech Lab. Ms. Castro had the class play four games related to keyboarding. They included "Keyboard Climber" and "Cup Stacking." When we got back to Room 2, we reviewed sight words, recited "Humpty Dumpty," and worked on sounding out words.

After lunch, we read "A Cloudy Day" and had math. We worked on measuring objects with cubes and comparing to see which objects were longer or shorter. Keep practicing at home!  We also finished up our George Washington Carver pictures from yesterday. For Star of the Week, Karma shared some cute toys. She had a monkey, Hello Kitty, Little Red Riding Hood, a ring game that looks like a cellphone, and Twilight Sparkle toy from "My Little Pony." The class liked them all! We ended the day with Reading Buddies with Room 19. Then we packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.
