The Letter O and The Grinch

We had a busy Monday in Room 2. We began the day by collecting Friday Folders and having Nutrition outside. We did a quick version of our morning activities, read "My 'O' Book," and brainstormed some "short o" words. At language arts rotations, students practiced proper "o" handwriting and used crayons, glue, and Cheerios to make the tactile page "Cheerios on 'O's on an Octopus." My groups wrote in our kindergarten journals. The other groups had secret centers. At 9:00, we stopped what we were doing to go to the auditorium. Mrs. Caruso's third grade class invited us to see a performance of "The Grinch." There was music, dancing, and many funny parts. The class enjoyed it a lot! When we got back to Room 2, we finished up our rotations. After recess, we had math. We learned how and when to use the = sign when adding. Then we had some addition practice.

After lunch, we looked for Zero Heroes, learned our new sight words for the week, and recited "Old Woman in a Shoe." Then we had art with Ms. Maria and Miss Karla. The class finished up Winter projects and had some free draw with markers. For Star of the Week, we introduced David. He shared his cool poster and took questions from the class. At P.E., we used frisbees and bouncy balls on the big yard. To end the day, we practiced our holiday songs and shared some Ethnicity Dolls.  They look fantastic!  Remember to finish them for tomorrow if you haven't already. Then we packed up, passed out homework, and lined up for home. Let's have a great week!
