Candy Canes and a Popcorn Party

We had a fun Friday in Room 2.  We began the day by collecting homework and having Nutrition. Then we took care of our morning activities and read "Hurry, Santa!" At language arts rotations, students made candy canes using beads and pipe cleaners. My groups read "I Like, We Like" and wrote a friendly letter to David, our Star of the Week. The other groups had the last secret center of this rotation. After recess, we had math. We worked on adding to ten using counters.

After lunch, we reviewed sight words and recited "Old Woman in a Shoe." We looked at our language arts theme of food. We talked about why we need food and foods we like. We also started work on a mini-book about food called "I Like to Eat!"  For Star of the Week, David brought in fish toys to estimate. There were 21 fish toys. Since it was raining, we had indoor recess. Afterwards we shared our last three Ethnicity Dolls. The class did a wonderful job!  Be sure to stop by and check them out!  To end the day, we had a popcorn party. We ate a cup of popcorn and watched The Magic School Bus gets Lost in Space. Then we packed up Friday Folders, passed out prizes for students with twenty super star sticks, and gave out awards for an all-green week.  Have a great weekend!
