Poinsettias

We had a nice Thursday in Room 2. We began the day with Nutrition and our morning activities. At language arts rotations, students worked on making poinsettia art. They look good!  My groups read "A Map" and wrote a friendly letter to Summer, our Star of the Week. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we had math. We worked on using the + sign while adding. We are doing a great job so far in this addition chapter!

After lunch, we reviewed our sight words and recited "Little Nut Tree." In art, we continued our unit on shapes by reviewing geometric and free form shapes. Then we made an "inside outside" picture by making geometric shapes inside a box, and free form shapes outside the box. We finished the picture by tracing and coloring the shapes with oil pastels and using water colors to fill in the background.  For Star of the Week, Summer and I read "Green Eggs and Ham" to the class. Then she shared a bunch of nice family photographs. After we packed up, Peter shared his Ethnicity Doll. He did a super job!  Don't forget that they are due next Tuesday, December 8. To end the day, we celebrated Dominic's birthday. His mom brought cupcakes and drinks to enjoy to honor his birthday on Saturday. Then we got our things, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.

Be sure to finish and check over homework packets for tomorrow!
