Short O and Wreaths

We had a productive day in Room 2. We began the day with Nutrition and our morning activities. Then we read "Morris' Disappearing Bag" and "O is for Owl." At language arts rotations, students worked on sounding out "short o" words and matching them to pictures. My groups worked on decorating a holiday project. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we had math. We did some addition practice with sums up to ten.

After lunch, we reviewed sight words, recited "Old Woman in a Shoe," and read "Is It Hanukkah Yet?" Then we finished cutting out the menorahs we made yesterday. Next, we shared more Ethnicity Dolls. We also made holiday wreaths by cutting out a ribbon and berries, painting a round plate with green paint, and then attaching them together. For P.E., Coach Angel had us play Hoop & Throw. Students tried throwing a ball through hula hoops set at different heights. We didn't have library today because of the Book Fair, so we came back to Room 2 and practiced our holiday songs for next week. We ended the day with Star of the Week. After reviewing what we know about David, he shared his favorite book. We read "Curious George and the Baseball Game" from a collection he brought in. Then we packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.
