More with N, the Earth, and a Play

We had a very full Wednesday in Room 2. We began the day with Nutrition and our morning activities. Then we read "The Lunchbox Surprise" and "N is for Newt." At language arts rotations, students worked on "n" phonics and sentences. My groups worked on our special holiday projects. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we had math. We worked on using objects to add. We used counters to help join numbers. It went well!

After lunch, we reviewed our sight words and recited "Little Nut Tree." We also read a book called "Earth and Mars" and had science. We labeled the outside parts and inside layers of the Earth using different colors. Then we cut out each part and stapled them together. They look cute! For Star of the Week, Summer read the book "Sofia and the Baby Bird" to the class. She did a great job!  We got a last minute invitation from Mr. Pratt to watch his drama students do the play "The Purple Dress," so we went to the auditorium to watch them perform. They did a fantastic job!  Next, at P.E., Coach Angel had us play "Noodle Prep." It was basically a game using foam noodles to guide a ball around cones. It will help our skills when we play more hockey-like games next week.  To end the day, we went to the library where Mrs. Singh read us two books. Then we put up our chairs, packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.
