Skeletons

We had a full day of reading and learning in Room 2. We began Wednesday with Nutrition and our morning activities. Then we read "The Amazing Human Body" and discussed our bones and muscles. At language arts rotations, students put together a skeleton with moving limbs. My groups wrote about neighborhoods in our kindergarten journals. The other groups had their last secret center of this rotation. After recess, we reviewed sight words, recited "Baa, Baa, Black Sheep," and had math. We reviewed Topic 10 and introduced Topic 11: Decomposing Numbers 11 to 19. Finally, Dashiell got to read us a book from home.

After lunch, we had a visitor. Lila's mom stopped by to be a guest reader. She read two books: "Poppington" and "Iggy Peck Architect." Then she read the class bonus Poppington story. They enjoyed them all!  Next, we learned a little about Jackie Robinson for Black History Month. The class got to color a picture after we read the book "Stealing Home." For Star of the Week, Dylan brought in his favorite book "The Brothers Lionheart." It was a chapter book, so we only read the beginning chapter and looked at some pictures. At P.E., Coach Angel had us play "Angry Birds" again. This time, though, we tried to knock down structures while on the scooter. To end the day, we went to the library. Mrs. Singh finished our day of reading with "Arthur Meets the President" and "Jump, Frog, Jump." Then we got our things and lined up for home!
