Ice Cream Party!

We had a great Thursday in Room 2. We began the day with Nutrition and morning activities. Then we read two books: "Emily's Valentine Party" and "V is for Vulture." At language arts rotations, students worked on "V" words and sentences. My groups read "We Can!" and wrote a letter to Hudson, our Star of the Week. The other groups had secret centers.  After recess, we recited "There Was a Crooked Man," worked on words that end in e (and therefore change their vowel sound), and had math. We learned about quarters. We found out that they are worth 25 cents, have George Washington on the front, and used to have a bald eagle on the back. We also learned that you need four quarters to make a dollar.

After lunch, we packed up our holiday projects, did a heart patterning cut and paste, and passed out Valentine cards and treats. Next, Hudson shared some nice pictures for Star of the Week. Our parents were still setting up for the ice cream party, so we went out for P.E. on the big yard. When we came back, we got to eat ice cream!  We had several flavors, sauces, sprinkles and other toppings. Yum!  A lot of students even went back for seconds!  I think that everyone had a great time.  After some recess, we packed up, grabbed our treat bags, and headed for home!

Don't forget to finish up homework for tomorrow!  Also, wear your class shirt, comfortable shoes, and bring a lunch with drink for the day. Parent chaperones, we will see you by Room 2 at 8:45!
